Eight Men Arrested in Connection to Homicide, Theft in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Eight men were arrested this week by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) in connection with multiple crimes, including theft and a homicide. The arrests follow a search warrant executed on December 16 linked to a homicide that occurred on October 21 in the 7000 block of Cutter Mill Road in southeast Shelby County.

The search was carried out at a residence in the 5900 block of Grosvenor Avenue in East Memphis. During the operation, deputies recovered several items of interest:

Four stolen vehicles, including a Maserati SUV, two Nissan Maximas, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee
11 firearms, including six Dracos, one AR pistol, and four Glock handguns, two of which had automatic switches
2.35 pounds of marijuana
The eight suspects arrested are identified as Roderick Danner (19), Desmond Emery (21), Eric McNeal (18), Zavion Owens (20), Gabriel Smith (22), Jonathan Rush (22), Curtiss Johnson (32), and Donte Eddings (19).

Six of the suspects—Danner, Emery, McNeal, Owens, Smith, and Rush—face charges including theft of property, firearm violations, unlawful possession of firearms, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Johnson is facing similar charges, along with 11 counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Eddings has been charged with first-degree murder, with additional charges expected.

The SCSO has indicated that these investigations are ongoing, and further arrests and charges may follow. The department is requesting that anyone with information about the homicide call Crimestoppers at 901-528-CASH or the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 901-379-7625.
