The Adgaon Police in Nashik have arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals for illegally residing in India. The investigation took a shocking turn when three of the suspects were found in possession of Aadhaar cards and residency certificates issued from Narayangaon, a town in Pune district.
Among the arrested, Alim Suankhan Mandal (32), Al-Amin Aminur Sheikh (21), and Mosin Moufijul Mulla (22) were found with fake residency certificates linked to Bhujbal Chawl, Narayangaon. These fraudulent documents were used to obtain Aadhaar cards, raising concerns over the fake documentation network.
The police investigation further revealed that one of the suspects was listed in the voter roll of Ward No. 5 in the Narayangaon Gram Panchayat, raising potential issues related to electoral fraud. In light of these revelations, the Gram Panchayat administration has launched an inquiry to determine how these certificates were issued and under what circumstances.
According to the Nashik Crime Branch, the suspects had been working and residing illegally in India, using these fake documents to evade authorities and establish a false identity. The authorities are continuing to investigate the source of these fake documents and their potential role in larger illegal networks.
This case underscores the growing concerns about fake documentation and its impact on both immigration and electoral processes in the country.
