Ehsan Khan and Abdul Hussain Jailed for Life Over Luton Stabbing

Two men have been sentenced to life imprisonment for their involvement in a violent attack in Luton last year, which left a young man with nine stab wounds.

Ehsan Khan and Abdul Hussain, both 19, approached the victim on Wingate Road, Luton, around 7:15 PM on Monday, July 24, 2023. After a brief exchange about an acquaintance, the pair brandished large knives and chased the 20-year-old victim into a nearby B&M Home Store car park.

The victim was unable to escape and fell as Khan and Hussain launched a frenzied attack, stabbing him nine times in his arm, legs, chest, and abdomen. Despite the severity of his injuries, the victim survived, but his life has been dramatically affected.

Following a two-and-a-half-week trial at Huntingdon Crown Court, Khan, of Pembroke Avenue, and Hussain, of Maidenhall Road, were found guilty of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. On September 3, both men were sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 12 years before they can be considered for parole.

Judge Walden-Smith, sentencing the two men, described them as dangerous, adding that neither had shown remorse or understanding of the damage caused. She stated, “It’s not one young life changed, but three, the two of you included.”

The victim, in his statement, expressed how the attack had destroyed his sense of safety and trust, severely impacting his social life and mental health. “Since the stabbing, I barely leave the house. Every time I go out, it feels like I’m reliving that night,” he said.

In a twist during the investigation, it was revealed that Khan had fled the country just 48 hours after the attack. He returned to the UK on August 12, 2023, and was arrested at Heathrow Airport. Hussain also attempted to flee but was on the run for almost three weeks before surrendering himself to Luton Police Station.

Detective Constable Nema Behzadi from Bedfordshire Police praised the community’s support in helping secure the convictions. She urged others to reconsider carrying knives, emphasizing the irreversible consequences for both individuals and the community. “Knife crime only results in loss – for you, your family, and everyone around you. Just drop it,” she said.

The case highlights the devastating impact of violent crimes and the importance of justice for victims and their families.
