JOLIET, IL — An 18-year-old Crest Hill resident, Edgar Aguirre-Dominguez, is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly leading Joliet police on a high-speed chase late Tuesday night in a BMW 330I.
According to Joliet police spokesperson Dwayne English, the incident began at approximately 11:06 p.m., when officers attempted to stop a BMW traveling around 70 mph on West Jefferson Street near Reed Street. The driver, later identified as Aguirre-Dominguez, allegedly refused to pull over, turned off the vehicle’s lights, and fled northbound on Bluff Street.
As the pursuit continued, the vehicle lost control and veered into a grassy area near Marion and Bluff Streets. Despite repeated commands to stop and exit the vehicle, Aguirre-Dominguez reportedly continued to resist.
Officers ultimately smashed the vehicle’s windows and took Aguirre-Dominguez into custody following a brief struggle.
He is now facing the following charges:
Reckless driving
Reckless conduct
Aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police
Two counts of obstructing a police officer
One count of resisting arrest
Additionally, he received citations for:
Speeding (2 counts)
Disobeying a traffic control device
Improper lighting
Failure to signal
Improper lane usage
Driving on the wrong side of the road
The BMW was towed from the scene. Aguirre-Dominguez was not booked into the Will County Jail but was instead issued a notice to appear in Will County Court.
