Dylan Rockwell Arrested After Repeated Walmart Thefts in Caldwell

A Caldwell man, 32-year-old Dylan Rockwell, was arrested after repeatedly stealing from Walmart using a clever but deceptive tactic. On Sunday evening, Caldwell Police officers responded to a theft in progress at Walmart. When Rockwell left the store, officers received a description of him, his vehicle, and the direction of travel.

Police intercepted Rockwell at his home, where he was taken into custody without incident. During questioning, Rockwell admitted to stealing multiple items from Walmart on different occasions. His method involved using a ring with a barcode for a can of tomato soup. He would scan the ring while pretending to scan larger items, causing the register to calculate a much lower price.

In his most recent theft, Rockwell allegedly stole a $300 grill. Caldwell Chief of Police Rex Ingram commented, “Sorry Mr. Rockwell, your tactics didn’t work this time but we appreciate your creativity. We know that times are tough but your ingenuity got you some county soup for dinner.”

Rockwell is facing charges for theft, and the investigation continues.
