Drug Peddler Jameel Khan Arrested in Kupwara After Year-Long Hunt

In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, police in Kupwara have successfully arrested a notorious drug peddler, Jameel Khan, who had been on the run for over a year. Khan, a resident of Dever Lolab and son of Gh Qadir Khan, was wanted in connection with a case under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) registered at Police Station Lalpora (FIR No. 90/2023) on November 14, 2023.

Khan had been evading arrest since the case was filed, but thanks to a well-coordinated operation based on credible intelligence, a special team from PS Lalpora managed to apprehend him. Authorities have praised the arrest as a significant achievement in their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug trafficking from the area and urged citizens to come forward with any information related to the illegal trade. They assured the public that any tips received would be kept anonymous, and strict actions would be taken against those involved in drug peddling.

This arrest is another step in the government’s continued crackdown on drug networks operating in Kashmir, with authorities focusing on dismantling these illegal operations for a safer, drug-free society.
