Drug Bust in Maharashtra: Nigerian Nationals Arrested

Four individuals, including two Nigerian nationals, were apprehended in separate drug possession cases in Thane and Palghar districts of Maharashtra last week, the police reported on Tuesday.

Narcotics, including cocaine and mephedrone (MD), valued over Rs 12.80 lakh, were confiscated during these operations.

In the first operation, Crime Unit V received a tip-off and set up a trap in Thane’s Wagle Estate area. Three suspects were arrested: 24-year-old Nigerian national Onyedikachi Precious Ikechukwu, 27-year-old Alam Abid Shaikh, and 37-year-old Usman alias Sonu Abdul Kadir Sheikh. Authorities recovered 101.16 grams of cocaine worth Rs 10.12 lakh from them. An FIR has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The second operation, carried out by the Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police, targeted a suspect in Nalasopara, Palghar. Nigerian national Anthony Chijiko Nyafore, 46, was arrested after 22.02 grams of MD, valued at Rs 2.69 lakh, was seized from his possession. An FIR was also filed under the NDPS Act in this case.
