Nirvair Lall, a convicted robber, has been jailed for the death of his friend, Inderjot Singh, in a tragic Christmas Day crash. The 25-year-old was speeding in his Ford Fiesta when he lost control and collided with a tree in a notorious accident hotspot in West Bromwich.
Lall had been drinking heavily after a night out at a Birmingham pub. His passenger, Singh, was fatally injured in the crash despite wearing a seatbelt. Lall managed to free himself from the wreckage and lied to police at the scene, initially claiming to be a passer-by.
Evidence from Lall’s electronic tag, which had been fitted after his early release from prison, showed he had been speeding at up to 101mph before the crash. He was found to have over the legal alcohol limit in his blood.
The crash, which occurred on Forge Lane—a 30mph zone known for accidents—left Singh with fatal injuries. Lall, who had a history of violent crime, was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving, and other related charges.
