In a significant operation led by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Dr. Zulfiqar Ahmed Qazi, a senior health official and head of the PCPNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques) Authority in Udaipur, was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs. 1.25 lakh. The arrest took place after the ACB received a complaint from a local citizen about the officer demanding a bribe for halting harassment related to a sonography machine.
According to Dr. Ravi Prakash Meharda, Director General of ACB, Dr. Qazi had allegedly demanded Rs. 1.50 lakh to refrain from sealing a sonography machine, return a sonography register, and ensure no further trouble for the complainant. Under the supervision of DIG Rajendra Prasad Goyal and led by Additional SP Himmat Singh Charan, the ACB team successfully verified the complaint and set up a trap.
The operation was carried out in Udaipur, where Dr. Qazi was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. Inspector Mansharam, along with his team, played a crucial role in apprehending the accused.
Further investigations are underway under the guidance of ADG Smita Srivastava. A case has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the ACB has vowed to continue its efforts in rooting out corruption from the system.
Dr. Ravi Prakash Meharda urged citizens to report any incidents of corruption via the ACB helpline , available 24/7, as part of the ongoing mission to ensure transparency and accountability in public services.
