Dr. Steven London Arrested for $157,000 Insurance Fraud Scheme

Boca Raton dentist faces theft and insurance fraud charges

by Amelia Crawford

Dr. Steven London, a 57-year-old dentist from Boca Raton, was arrested on Monday and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail for theft and insurance fraud, following an investigation by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Criminal Investigations Division.

The charges stem from allegations that Dr. London orchestrated a scheme to defraud three major insurance carriers—MetLife, Delta Dental, and Aetna—out of $157,000 in premium benefits from his dental practice.

According to the investigation, Dr. London and his office manager fabricated claims and manipulated dental records and treatment dates to submit fraudulent claims. Bank records showed that the funds from the fraud were deposited into Dr. London’s account. Additionally, records indicated that Dr. London was outside Florida on days when treatments were reportedly provided. Audit records revealed evidence of manipulation, including backdating and deleting entries to conceal the fraud.

Patient interviews confirmed that the alleged treatments never took place, further supporting the fraudulent nature of the claims. The arrest followed extensive evidence gathering, including bank records, patient testimonies, forensic expert reports, and a statement from Dr. London’s office manager.
