Dr. Solomon Guramatunhu, a renowned ophthalmologist at 70, is embroiled in a cryptocurrency scam involving a sum of US$108,000, according to state documents.

Court records indicate that Guramatunhu engaged Lloyd Chiyangwa, who is currently in custody, to open five cryptocurrency trading accounts on his behalf. Chiyangwa, who was residing in the UK at the time, was reportedly tasked with setting up wallets and generating corresponding passwords for the transactions.

The case came to light when it was revealed that Chiyangwa facilitated the transfer of 122,467 Matic tokens, valued at US$108,924.24, from Guramatunhu’s Metamask wallet to the Waybit exchange. However, Guramatunhu was unable to move the tokens to another wallet, as he discovered they were missing. Authorities suspect Chiyangwa executed the transfer using his iPhone 15.

Upon realizing the scam, Guramatunhu promptly notified the authorities, and the matter is now under investigation.
