The Special Investigation Team (SIT), appointed by the state government, has seized critical documents in their ongoing investigation into the Khyati hospital scam, which has been linked to the deaths of 112 patients. The team conducted a two-hour search at the hospital, with Dr. Sanjay Patolia, who is currently under remand, present during the operation.
A total of 20 files containing records related to 3,800 surgeries were seized during the search. These documents included the hospital’s minutes books, patient data, and treatment records for both regular and corporate patients. The search, which took place between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm, involved chartered accountants, IT experts, and videographers. The team focused on Dr. Patolia’s office and the operation theatre, with additional searches conducted in the offices of other directors and the CEO. The hospital’s server room, containing administrative, patient, and financial data, was also examined.
The investigation team, aided by the hospital’s IT and accounting staff, accessed the server and seized electronic data. They also gathered information on 141 patients treated under various government health schemes, including ONGC, Western Railway, Steel Authority, Ex-Servicemen Health Scheme, and PRL. Dr. Patolia, who managed all administrative matters at the hospital, was accompanied by the search team. It was revealed that he was second only to Karthik Patel in terms of decision-making and issuing orders.
Khyati hospital has performed a total of 3,800 surgeries to date, raising several questions about the patients involved, how they were selected, and the role of government schemes in their treatment. A detailed review of the seized documents will help answer these questions and further clarify the extent of the fraud.
