Dr. Meena Pooja Gop Arrested in Goa Job Scam, Rs 27 Lakh Fraud

Dr. Meena Pooja Gop, a skin specialist from Mapusa, Goa, was arrested on Friday by the Crime Branch of Goa Police in connection with an alleged job scam. The case involves a total of Rs 27 lakh being swindled from 13 victims, with the accused promising overseas jobs.

The police registered an FIR based on the complaint filed by Sanjana Mahesh Bhicholkar, a resident of Guirim, Bardez. According to Crime Branch SP Rahul Gupta, the scam dates back to September 2020.

Both Dr. Meena Gop and her brother, Arvind Gop, are accused of acting as recruiting agents and collecting money under false pretenses. The victims were promised jobs in the sales department of a New Zealand company, for which they paid substantial processing fees through cash and digital transfers. The total amount extorted amounted to Rs 8.5 lakh from a single complainant.

Despite providing forged documents, including a fake visa, the accused failed to secure the promised jobs for the victims. The fraud affected a total of 13 people, with the Gops allegedly cheating them out of Rs 27 lakh.

Dr. Meena Gop, the skin specialist, has been arrested, while the police continue to investigate and track down her brother, Arvind Gop, who remains at large.
