Douglas Martak Charged in Guilderland Slashing Attack

Guilderland, NY – A 54-year-old Guilderland man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly slashing another man during a violent altercation early Sunday morning.

Police responded to the scene around 12:45 a.m. on Windingbrook Drive, where they found a 44-year-old man suffering from serious injuries to his back and abdomen. The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center for emergency treatment.

Investigators identified Douglas Martak as the suspect in the attack. He was arrested on Tuesday and charged with attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Martak was arraigned in court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details about the motive or the nature of the altercation.
