Dominic Kinnel Charged with Animal Torture in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – A Lexington man is facing multiple charges, including animal torture, after he allegedly stabbed a passerby’s dog in the head on March 3.

According to police, 20-year-old Dominic Kinnel approached an individual walking down Deweese Street around 9 p.m. and suddenly stabbed the victim’s dog in the head with a knife.

When asked why he attacked the animal, Kinnel allegedly responded that he had “had a really bad day.”

Dog Receives Emergency Treatment
The injured dog was taken to a veterinary clinic, where it was treated for a laceration requiring multiple staples.

Additional Charges Against Kinnel
Authorities say Kinnel later threatened another person that same night. As a result, he has been charged with:

Torture of a dog or cat
Third-degree terroristic threatening
Second-degree criminal mischief
Resisting arrest
Kinnel is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
