Domestic Help Swagatam Kumar Arrested for Rs60L Theft in Jaipur

Jaipur police have arrested domestic help Swagatam Kumar (23), his father Satendra Das (50), and an accomplice Sunil Turi for allegedly siphoning off lakhs of rupees from a local businessman’s home over several years. The stolen funds were traced to land purchases in Bihar.

The Bani Park police made the arrests across Jharkhand and Bihar following a thorough investigation triggered by a complaint from the victim businessman on May 19. The complainant, involved in exports, suspected Swagatam of gradually stealing money from his house.

Investigations revealed that Swagatam discreetly took small amounts from a cash bag over months, funneling the money through a middleman to his village in Bihar. His father and aide used the funds to buy two plots of land worth lakhs — one in Khajuri village for about Rs25 lakh and another near the main road in Gaya in his wife’s name for around Rs35 lakh.

Authorities stated that Sunil Turi acted as a courier, transferring cash from Swagatam to his father, earning Rs2 lakh for his role. Police have seized documents linked to these land purchases and are coordinating with land revenue officials in Aurangabad and Gaya for verification.

All three suspects have been brought to Jaipur for interrogation and formal arrest. Investigations continue to uncover any further involvement and recover remaining stolen sums.
