MIAMI, Fla. (WPLG Local10) – Domenic Pedre, a 20-year-old inmate, was arraigned in court on Monday, facing charges in connection with the drug overdose death of a woman in Miami-Dade County.
Homicide detectives revealed that Pedre sold and delivered the narcotics that led to the woman’s overdose twice. After surviving the first overdose on August 15, the woman passed away the following day in the Tamiami neighborhood. Her father, who discovered her unresponsive, attempted to revive her with CPR and NARCAN before emergency responders transported her to the hospital.
Investigators later found 14 Xanax bars and traces of fentanyl at the scene. The medical examiner confirmed the woman’s cause of death was acute combined drug toxicity, involving Xanax, fentanyl, and Bromazolam.
Pedre was arrested on October 30, following a brief foot chase after he fled from officers during his arrest at his Flagami home. The police search uncovered over $105,000 in cash, drugs including cocaine, Xanax, Oxycodone, and fentanyl, along with firearms, including a Glock and two rifles.
Pedre is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder with a controlled substance, drug trafficking, and weapon offenses. He remains incarcerated without bond, with prosecutors filing charges on January 11 related to the woman’s death and on October 31 for drug trafficking.
