VALE, NC — Dirk Rodney Nixon, 44, of Vale, was arrested on Friday, January 3, by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers, facing multiple felony charges, including trafficking opium or heroin, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for controlled substances, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana.
The arrest followed an operation conducted by investigators from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, who were assisting Probation Officers with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections. During the operation at Nixon’s residence on Hope Road, law enforcement seized a significant quantity of fentanyl, along with 11 grams of marijuana and $1,939 in cash.
Nixon has also been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor probation violation. Following his arrest, he was held in the Catawba County Detention Facility on a $515,000 bond, though as of January 7, he was no longer listed as an inmate. Nixon’s court dates are scheduled for District Court on January 6 and Superior Court on February 20.
