Long Beach police have arrested Dion Terrell Walton Jr. in connection with two alleged sexual assaults that took place on January 17, 2025.
The first assault occurred around 1 a.m. near an alley in the area of West 10th Street and Pacific Avenue. A woman was walking when Walton approached her, sexually assaulted her, and fled the scene heading northbound on Pacific Avenue. Investigators believe Walton struck again later that morning, at approximately 9 a.m., in the 1200 block of Long Beach Boulevard, where a second woman was assaulted in the upper body.
In response to the attacks, the Long Beach Police Department released security footage of the suspect and appealed to the public for assistance in locating him. Police Chief Wally Hebeish condemned the crimes, calling them “abhorrent” and “intolerable.” He added that the department had increased officer presence in the area to help ensure public safety.
Detectives located Walton in Wilmington, California, on Saturday, January 20, 2025, at around 12:20 p.m. He was arrested on suspicion of several serious charges, including sodomy, first-degree robbery, aggravated kidnapping with intent to commit rape, and assault with intent to commit a felony. Walton’s bail was set at $1 million.
The Long Beach Police Department is continuing its investigation and urges anyone with information to come forward.
