Dewas Police Bust 13 Fraudulent Call Centres, Seize Equipment and Arrest 7

In a major crackdown, Dewas Police carried out simultaneous raids on 13 fraudulent call centres operating in the district, resulting in the seizure of 60 mobile phones, 40 computers, 40 CPUs, and four laptops.

Following numerous reports of scams being run by fraudulent call centres, the police formed multiple teams based on intelligence inputs. Three FIRs were registered, leading to the arrest of seven individuals involved in operating these scams. Police clarified that employees working at the centres, earning meagre wages, were not charged in the cases.

Dewas SP Puneet Gehlod explained that of the three FIRs, two were related to investment advisory firms operating without licenses, and one involved a marriage bureau that was also involved in fraudulent activities.

A significant raid was carried out at an office named Sky Broking, located behind Chhabra Complex. The Civil Lines Police Station, led by Deepak Yadav, arrested Deepak Rathore (22) and Bittu Malviya (20), who were found calling people and luring them into stock market investments. Investigations revealed major irregularities in the company’s documents. As a result, cases were registered against Tilakraj Singh Chauhan (24) and Ankit Sharma, under various sections of the BNS and IT Act. The police seized 13 computers, 13 CPUs, and six keypad mobile phones.

In another incident, a complainant filed a report at Industrial Area Police Station, claiming that he had received a call offering stock market tips with promises of a profit of Rs8 lakh in exchange for an initial fee of Rs2.5 lakh. After losing Rs2,27,662, the victim reported the scam. Shashikant Chaurasia, the police station in-charge, led a raid at the Choice Investment advisory firm, arresting Ankit Yogi from Indore. A case was filed against him under fraud-related sections.

This coordinated effort by Dewas Police underscores the district’s commitment to cracking down on fraudulent schemes and protecting the public from such scams.
