Devon Barrett Arrested for Gym Locker & Vehicle Thefts in Nassau

MERRICK, N.Y. – A Central Islip man, Devon D. Barrett, 33, has been arrested for a series of thefts from gym lockers and vehicles across Nassau County, police announced Thursday.

Alleged Crimes & Charges
Between Feb. 14 and Feb. 25, Barrett allegedly broke into nine unlocked gym lockers, stole car keys, and used them to access victims’ vehicles. He then stole various items from inside and in seven cases, used or attempted to use the victims’ credit cards at nearby locations.

Barrett faces the following charges:

Eight counts of grand larceny (4th degree)
Seven counts of identity theft (2nd degree)
Two counts of petit larceny
Targeted Fitness Centers
Police say Barrett committed thefts at multiple gyms, including:

Planet Fitness (Merrick, Plainview, Massapequa)
Blink Fitness (Baldwin)
L.A. Fitness (New Hyde Park)
Arrest & Investigation
Barrett was arrested without incident on March 5 at 7:50 p.m. in Brentwood. Authorities urge gym-goers to secure their belongings and report suspicious activity. The investigation is ongoing.
