Police arrested a man named Devadasan on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in connection with an attempted rape case involving a 24-year-old woman in Mambetta near Mukkom, Kozhikode. He was apprehended from Thrissur district during an early morning operation.
The arrest follows a shocking incident where the woman, in a desperate attempt to escape from three alleged attackers, jumped from the top floor of a building. She sustained severe injuries and was immediately admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The case had sparked outrage locally, especially given the gravity of the injuries sustained by the victim. According to initial reports, Devadasan is one of three accused in the case, with efforts underway to trace and apprehend the other two suspects.
Authorities are continuing their investigation while the woman remains under medical care.
