Derryl J. Crawford Arrested in Catawba County Drug Operation

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (WETM) — A drug operation led by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office on February 18, 2025, resulted in the seizure of over 34 grams of methamphetamine and $250 in cash from a residence on North Ervin Avenue in Newton.

Derryl J. Crawford, 64, was arrested during the operation and faces multiple drug-related charges, including trafficking methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances. He is currently being held at the Catawba County Detention Facility under an $11,000 bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on February 19, 2025.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to removing illegal drugs from our communities and holding those responsible for trafficking accountable,” stated Sheriff Don Brown.

The operation is part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the region. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from several local agencies, including the Hickory Police Department, NC State Bureau of Investigations, Maiden Police Department, and Newton Police Department.

This action is a continued effort by law enforcement to combat illegal drug activities and send a strong message to those involved in trafficking.
