Two Claiborne County men, Derrick Gaines and Johnny Lakerias Thomas, have been arrested and charged with insurance fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy following an investigation by the Public Integrity Division of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
The charges came after indictments were sought by the Attorney General’s Office, as confirmed by Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods. Both men were booked into the Claiborne County Jail, according to a social media post from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department.
Circuit Judge Tameka H. Irving set their bonds at $10,000 each, and they were released on Wednesday. They are scheduled to appear in Judge Irving’s Jefferson County court on Monday.
T.J. Werre, spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office, declined to comment on the matter, citing the ongoing investigation.
