Deneyvous Hobson Convicted in Armed Robbery and Gun Crimes

LOS ANGELES, CA – Deneyvous Hobson, 38, of Los Angeles, was convicted by a federal jury on multiple charges, including conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.

The charges stem from a violent robbery on February 14, 2022, when Hobson and co-defendant James Russell Davis, 36, plotted and executed a robbery at Wescom Credit Union in Hawthorne. Three weeks before the crime, the two men cased the credit union. On the day of the robbery, Hobson, Davis, and two accomplices ambushed the driver of an armored truck while he was servicing an ATM. The robbers stole the driver’s service weapon, a .40-caliber handgun, along with approximately $166,640 in cash and checks.

During their escape, one of Hobson’s accomplices fired a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, and Hobson attempted to sell the weapon used in the robbery the following day via text message.

Further investigations revealed that in October 2022, Hobson was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition, despite being prohibited from owning firearms due to prior felony convictions for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada emphasized that the community would not tolerate violent gun crimes and that Hobson, as an armed and violent felon, would be held accountable.

Hobson faces significant prison time, with sentencing scheduled at a later date.
