Delhi Police Uncovers Voter ID Fraud Network, Arrests Six Individuals in Shaheen Bagh

In a significant development, the Delhi Police has arrested six individuals in connection with a large-scale voter ID fraud operation in the Shaheen Bagh area. The arrests were made following two separate cases where forged documents were used to obtain new voter ID cards or make fraudulent address changes.

The first complaint was filed on December 25, when Vinod Kumar, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) from Okhla, reported that four individuals had submitted applications for voter ID cards or address modifications using fake documents. Based on this complaint, a case was registered on December 26

A similar case surfaced just days later on December 29, when Kumar informed the police about another four individuals who had applied for new voter registrations with forged documents. The police registered a second case under the same sections of the BNS and began investigating further.

The arrested individuals are:

Mohammad Naim
Rizwan Ul Haq
Sabana Khatoon
Rajat Srivastava
Sachin Kumar
Trilok Chand
Investigations revealed that the accused were using advanced software and tools to manipulate the documents and successfully bypass the voter registration system. During the probe, police seized a personal computer, which was believed to be used in the creation of the fraudulent documents. This suggests the existence of a coordinated network leveraging technology to carry out electoral fraud.

The Delhi Police is continuing to investigate and expand their efforts to locate and arrest other individuals connected to this forgery network. Authorities are also scrutinizing the scale of the misuse of technology and its potential impact on electoral integrity.

These cases highlight the vulnerability of the electoral system to fraudulent practices, leading the Delhi Police to urge the implementation of more rigorous verification procedures and the use of technological safeguards to combat such malpractices.

The investigation remains active, and more arrests are anticipated as authorities work to protect the sanctity of the electoral system.
