Delhi Police Seizes Rs 12 Crore Worth of Cocaine, Arrests Key Cartel Member

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has made a significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown against an international cocaine trafficking syndicate by seizing cocaine worth approximately Rs 12 crore. The operation also led to the arrest of a key cartel member, Jatinder Singh Gill, also known as Jassi.

Gill was apprehended on October 3 at Amritsar Airport, where he was attempting to flee to the UK. His arrest led investigators to a Fortuner car parked at his uncle’s house in Amritsar’s Nepal village. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities recovered a large consignment of cocaine, which was registered under the name of Ravinder from Sarojini Nagar and is believed to be owned by Gill’s son.

The investigation revealed that Gill was operating under the orders of Veerendra Vasoya, also known as Veeru, the leader of the international syndicate. Vasoya, currently in hiding in Dubai, had previously been arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in 2011 for drug-related offenses and served a two-year prison sentence. Following his release, Vasoya resumed operations, expanding his drug trafficking network across India.

In February, the Pune Crime Branch seized Mephedrone worth Rs 3,000 crore, which was tied to Vasoya’s associates. This case has since been transferred to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai. During the interrogation of Tushar Goyal, a suspected kingpin of the cartel based in India, authorities discovered plans to supply 150 kilograms of cocaine in Delhi alone in the coming months, with connections to several prominent traffickers in the Delhi-NCR region.
