Delhi Police Busts ₹54 Crore GST Refund Racket

The Delhi Police’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has successfully dismantled a significant Goods and Services Tax (GST) refund racket, arresting seven individuals, including a GST officer, three advocates, a proprietor of fake firms, and two transporters. The investigation revealed fraudulent GST refunds totaling approximately Rs54 crore, along with forged invoices amounting to Rs718 crore linked to fictitious companies.

ACB chief Madhur Verma, Joint Commissioner of Police, made the announcement on Monday, identifying the accused as follows: GST officer Babita Sharma; advocates Raj Singh Saini, Narendra Kumar Saini, and Mukesh Saini; proprietor of fake firms Manoj Goyal; and transporters Surjeet Singh and Lalit Kumar.

This bust highlights the ongoing efforts of the Delhi Police to combat corruption and financial fraud in the GST system.
