Delhi Police Arrest Vikash Bhardwaj Seize Rs 2 Lakh in Fake Currency

Delhi Police arrested Vikash Bhardwaj on Thursday, seizing approximately Rs 2 lakh in counterfeit currency from his possession. Bhardwaj, who has a criminal history involving fake currency operations in Lucknow, was also linked to a previous attempt to murder case at the Shahbad Dairy Police Station in Delhi.

The arrest followed a tip-off received by the police on Wednesday, which indicated that Bhardwaj, a member of an active counterfeit currency network, would be distributing a significant amount of fake currency at a bus stand near the SDM office in Naya Bans, in north-west Delhi. Prompt action by the Delhi Police led to the formation of a special team, which successfully apprehended Bhardwaj at the designated location.

A thorough search of Bhardwaj’s belongings led to the discovery of 399 counterfeit Rs 500 notes, amounting to approximately Rs 2 lakh. The arrested individual has been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover the full scope of the counterfeit currency racket he is allegedly connected to.

Bhardwaj’s arrest is part of a broader crackdown on fake currency operations in the national capital. Police are now focusing on tracing the source of the counterfeit notes and identifying others involved in the illegal circulation of fake currency. Investigators suspect that the counterfeit money may have been part of a larger network distributing fraudulent currency across multiple regions.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to counterfeit currency, as the circulation of fake notes continues to pose significant challenges to the financial system and public security.

Further details about the network and Bhardwaj’s involvement are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
