Delhi Police have arrested Rajendra Makwana, a 40-year-old man, for his involvement in a social media scam that lured victims with promises of high returns on investments. Makwana was apprehended in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where he managed the bank accounts used to facilitate the fraudulent operations.
The case began with a complaint from a victim who had fallen prey to the scam. Initially invited to join an investment circle, the victim received small profits, which encouraged him to invest a substantial amount of Rs 8.2 lakh in hopes of larger returns. However, when he tried to withdraw his investment, Makwana had disappeared, prompting the victim to report the fraud to authorities.
Investigators from the Cyber Police Station in Shahdara analyzed bank records and tracked the accused’s mobile activity to Jodhpur, where they successfully raided his location and made the arrest on Sunday. During questioning, Makwana confessed to managing the bank accounts involved in transferring and laundering the illicit funds with the help of accomplices.
