The Jajpur police have successfully solved the tragic murder of 28-year-old Deepak Sahu, a photo studio owner from Sobara village, with the arrest of two of his former employees.
The arrested individuals are Sridhar Kabi (24) from Sobara and Biswaranjan Pattanaik (23) from Puruna Bandhagoda village in the neighbouring Keonjhar district. Both had worked at Omm Digital Film Studio, which was owned by Deepak.
According to Jajpur SP Yashpratap Srimal, the murder stemmed from a financial dispute between the accused and Deepak. The two had been in conflict over money, and when an opportunity arose, they planned to eliminate him.
On the night of the murder, the accused visited the studio and called Deepak, who was sleeping inside. Upon his opening the door, the suspects entered, locked it, and tied his hands with an electric wire. They then brutally killed him by smashing his head with a stone. After the murder, the duo looted computers, cameras, and other valuables from the studio and fled the scene.
The body was discovered by the following morning, lying in a pool of blood. Upon receiving the report, the police swiftly arrived at the crime scene and began their investigation.
Police were able to make a breakthrough after examining call records from Deepak’s mobile phone, which had been left at the studio. The investigation revealed that Sridhar had called Deepak around midnight on the night of the murder. Tracking Sridhar’s mobile led to his arrest in Keonjhar, while Biswaranjan was apprehended in Bhubaneswar based on Sridhar’s statement.
Both accused have been arrested under relevant sections of the law and were produced in court. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
