Deepak Kumar and Accomplice Arrested in Rs2.5 Lakh Theft from T-shirt Firm

In a case of embezzlement that has shocked the local business community, Division Number 1 police have arrested a staff member of a T-shirt manufacturing unit and his accomplice for allegedly stealing Rs2.5 lakh from the firm. The accused, Deepak Kumar, initially fabricated a story claiming his scooter containing the cash had been stolen near Akalgarh market. However, police investigations revealed that the theft was a ruse, and Deepak had conspired with his friend, Sahil, to steal the money.

The accused duo, Deepak Kumar from Jassian and Sahil from Gwala Mohalla near Deepak Cinema, were exposed after a complaint was filed by Rupesh Ahuja, a T-shirt manufacturer from Bhai Manna Singh Nagar. According to Ahuja’s complaint, Deepak had collected Rs2.5 lakh from Gur Mandi before heading to Akalgarh market for further collections. Deepak claimed that he parked his scooter in the market and went into a building, only to find his scooter and the money missing upon his return 10 minutes later.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central), Anil Kumar Bhanot, noted that Deepak’s inconsistent statements raised suspicion during questioning. After further intense interrogation, Deepak confessed to the crime, revealing that he had planned the scam with Sahil. The duo had intentionally misplaced the scooter with the cash and fabricated the theft story in an attempt to deceive Deepak’s employer.

The police have successfully recovered the stolen scooter and the cash from the two accused, who have since been arrested. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
