A man was arrested by the police for committing theft in a house in Vijay Nagar. Cash and valuables worth Rs 5 lakh were recovered from the accused.
According to Vijay Nagar TI Chandrakant Patel, complainant Ruby Rathore, a resident of Kalpakamdhenu Nagar, reported her house was burgled within 30 minutes of her going to the terrace to put clothes in the sun.
She returned to find the main door lock broken, and household items scattered. Upon inspection, she discovered gold and silver jewelry, along with cash, were stolen.
“We immediately launched an investigation, and based on CCTV footage, we identified the accused as Deepak alias Gajni. A team was formed to apprehend him, and he was caught near Velocity Mall,” Patel said.
Upon interrogation, Deepak confessed to the crime and revealed he had hidden the stolen items at his residence. Police raided his house and recovered gold and silver jewelry, along with cash, worth Rs 5 lakh.
The accused, a habitual thief, has been sent to police custody for further investigation into his involvement in other cases. Several cases have been registered against him in various police stations.
