David Taylor Arrested in Kennesaw with 129 Grams of Methamphetamine

KENNESAW, Ga. – A significant amount of methamphetamine is now off the streets after Kennesaw Police arrested 42-year-old David Taylor in connection to a drug trafficking operation near Cobb Parkway.

Suspicious Activity Leads to Drug Bust
Police responded to a suspicious activity call behind a business on Wednesday afternoon, where they found Taylor and a woman behind the building. Authorities say Taylor lied about his identity and then attempted to flee.

“As soon as she begins to question if he gave the correct name and date of birth, he begins to say officers have no right to detain him,” said Officer David Buchanan.

A brief chase ensued, during which Taylor damaged an officer’s body cam and a parked car before being taken into custody.

Drugs, Gun, and Paraphernalia Seized
Once arrested, officers searched Taylor and discovered:

129 grams of methamphetamine (far exceeding Georgia’s 28-gram trafficking threshold)
A large quantity of marijuana
Two unidentified pills
Drug paraphernalia, including scales and baggies, indicating he was selling drugs
Investigators say Taylor also admitted to having a firearm, which he discarded before his arrest.

Ongoing Investigation
Authorities revealed that Taylor had multiple warrants from other agencies and emphasized the importance of community awareness.

“Cases like this are extremely crucial to public safety. Bringing that amount of meth into our community is extremely dangerous,” said Officer Buchanan.

The arrest took place behind a gymnastics school, where parents and children were present throughout the day. Thanks to a concerned citizen reporting suspicious activity, police were able to take a known offender off the streets. Taylor is now being held at Cobb County Jail on multiple charges.
