David Rice and Stephanie Hankle Arrested for Bar Burglaries

State police have charged two suspects in connection with a series of bar burglaries across Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

David Alan Rice and Stephanie Denise Hankle were accused of burglarizing twelve bars in 2023, stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of cash, alcohol, and even an entire ATM.

The bars targeted by the duo included popular establishments such as The Darkhorse Saloon, Brenda Lee’s Bar, June Bug’s, and Starlite Bar. Investigators found that Hankle would drive Rice to scout the locations and assess security measures. Once the bars closed, Rice would break in and steal valuable items, such as money bags, poker machine proceeds, and liquor, before calling Hankle to pick him up.

Authorities estimate that the pair made off with a total of $17,517.21 in stolen goods and caused an estimated $8,000 in damages. Rice’s theft spree included a wide range of stolen items, from cash and coins to an ATM.

State police are continuing their investigation into the crimes, as they search for any further details related to the spree.
