A routine traffic stop in Columbus County led to a dramatic chase and the arrest of David Reynoso on drug-related charges. On February 20, 2025, a Columbus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputy verified the license plate of a white Chevrolet and initiated a traffic stop. As the vehicle slowed, a male passenger exited and fled on foot, while the driver sped off.
The deputy pursued the vehicle, which led to a chase through various streets. Eventually, the driver abandoned the car and attempted to flee on foot. Deputies tried using a Taser X26 to subdue him, but his clothing thwarted the device. After a brief struggle, the suspect, later identified as David Reynoso, was taken into custody.
During the search, a small plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance and a yellow cut straw were found in the car’s center console. Reynoso was arrested and transported to the Columbus County Detention Center with a $10,000 bond.
