David A. Callaway Arrested After Stolen BMW Crash Spree

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — David A. Callaway, 27, was arrested on Friday after leading police on a reckless chase that resulted in multiple crashes and serious injuries. Callaway, who was found driving a stolen 2025 BMW X6, faces a series of charges, including car theft and assault.

The incident began when police responded to reports of a stolen vehicle near Northwest Marshall Street and Northwest 13th Avenue. Upon locating the BMW, officers attempted to stop Callaway, but he sped off recklessly. Despite the officers activating their emergency lights, Callaway ignored the attempts to stop him, driving erratically through the streets.

His reckless driving led to a minor crash at Northwest 16th and Northrup, where he fled the scene. Moments later, Callaway was involved in a more severe crash at Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest Lovejoy Street, colliding with two Toyota Priuses. One of the Priuses rolled onto its side due to the force of the collision, sending both drivers to the hospital with serious injuries.

After the crash, Callaway attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers who had surrounded the area. He was arrested along with his passenger, Brooklyn J. Williams, 21, who was also booked into jail on multiple warrants.

Callaway now faces multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree assault, failure to perform duties of a driver, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless endangerment, possession of methamphetamine, and prior warrants.

This arrest comes after a dangerous spree that left a trail of damaged vehicles and serious injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the incident.
