Davenport Woman Arrested for Stealing and Selling Merchandise on Facebook Marketplace

A Davenport woman, Ashley Padilla, 41, is in the Scott County Jail after allegedly stealing items from Home Depot and Lowe’s stores and selling them on Facebook Marketplace.

According to a criminal complaint, on January 10, Padilla and a co-defendant entered the Bettendorf Home Depot, where Padilla picked up a Dyson vacuum worth $469. She walked past all the registers and towards the exit doors, where the co-defendant was waiting in a running vehicle. When the store’s loss prevention officer confronted Padilla, she was caught and the vacuum was recovered. Padilla then fled with the co-defendant in the vehicle, heading toward Kimberly Road.

The officer recognized Padilla from a previous theft at the Clinton Home Depot on October 6, 2024, where the pair had stolen goods valued at $299 and attempted to sell them on Facebook Marketplace.

Further investigation revealed that Padilla and her accomplice also stole around $1,281 worth of merchandise from the Lowe’s store in Coralville, IA on December 6, 2024.

Padilla, who has a criminal history with nine prior theft convictions in Iowa, had a warrant issued for her arrest on January 21. She was arrested on February 21 and is currently being held in the Scott County Jail on a combined cash-only and secured bond of $27,000 while awaiting an initial court appearance.
