DAVENPORT, Iowa – A 39-year-old Davenport man was arrested after police say he repeatedly physically and verbally abused an autistic child, with multiple disturbing incidents caught on video.
Incident Details
According to the criminal complaint, Davenport Police received a child abuse report on March 6 from a home in the 1400 block of West 12th Street. Videos captured Scott Terry committing multiple acts of abuse, including:
Throwing a shoe at the child and then kicking them while they were on the couch.
Throwing water in the child’s face and verbally abusing them.
Picking up the child and throwing them across the room.
Additionally, audio recordings revealed Terry saying:
He would “accidentally” step on the child’s head.
“I’m going to give you a reason to cry.”
Threatening the child by forcefully hitting a table and stating “Next time, it will be (the child’s) head.”
Arrest and Charges
A warrant was issued for Terry’s arrest on March 14, and he was taken into custody later that day. He is charged with:
Three felony counts of child endangerment
One felony count of neglect or abandonment of a dependent person
Current Status
Terry is being held at the Scott County Jail on a secured $6,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 25.
