Davenport Man George James Arrested for Downtown Shooting

DAVENPORT, IA – A Davenport man previously arrested for a brawl at BowlMor Lanes has been taken into custody again—this time for attempted murder following a downtown shooting.

According to Davenport Police, George James, 28, allegedly shot a man multiple times during a dispute in a parking lot near 800 W. Third Street around 1:45 a.m. on March 4.

Shooting Caught on Video
Police say video surveillance captured James brandishing a firearm, pointing it at the victim, and later firing multiple shots.
The victim, who was walking away, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and required emergency surgery at a local hospital.
James fled the scene in a white sedan after the shooting.
Prior Convictions & Charges
James was convicted of felony burglary in Rock Island County in 2009, making him ineligible to possess a firearm. He now faces charges including:

Attempted Murder
Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon
Willful Injury
James is being held at the Scott County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond. His preliminary hearing for the shooting case is scheduled for March 14, while his hearing for the BowlMor incident is set for March 7.
