Davenport Man Arrested After Eluding Police in Stolen Vehicle

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Austin Bond, a 29-year-old man from Davenport, was arrested after eluding police while driving a stolen vehicle on December 25, 2024. According to the criminal complaint, officers with the Davenport Police Department observed Bond driving a stolen vehicle around 10:34 a.m. in the 6100 block of Northwest Boulevard.

Police activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop, but Bond sped up and intentionally failed to stop, evading law enforcement. The stolen vehicle, valued at $8,500, was later found abandoned.

Bond was located nearby, and when officers again attempted to stop him, he fled on foot. Police were able to catch up with him and take him into custody. He now faces multiple charges, including second-degree theft, three counts of third-degree theft, eluding police, and interference with official acts.

Bond was released from Scott County Jail on his own recognizance. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on January 14, 2025, according to court records.
