Dattaram Sawant Arrested for Operating Sex Racket in Thane Housing Complex

A man was arrested on charges of operating a sex racket from his flat in a housing complex in Vartak Nagar, Thane, Maharashtra. The arrest was made after a raid by the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the Thane Police on February 12.

The accused, Dattaram Sawant (58), was using his flat in the residential area to run the illegal racket. Based on a tip-off, the police conducted the raid and rescued a woman who had been trafficked.

A case was registered against Dattaram Sawant under Section 143(1) (trafficking of person) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (PITA) of 1956.
