Colma, California – A 30-year-old San Francisco man, Daniel Brownstein, was arrested on January 25, 2025, after allegedly stealing merchandise and resisting arrest. The incident occurred around 6:56 p.m. when officers were dispatched to a store on Colma Boulevard.
Brownstein had concealed approximately $123.36 worth of merchandise and attempted to flee when confronted by store staff. Upon arriving at the scene, officers identified and attempted to detain him. However, Brownstein resisted, leading to a struggle that left two officers with minor injuries.
A criminal background check revealed that Brownstein had two prior theft convictions. He was arrested on charges of felony theft with priors, shoplifting, resisting a peace officer, and a $5,000 misdemeanor warrant from a neighboring agency. Brownstein was booked into the San Mateo County Jail following his arrest.
