KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Kishor Bikram Malla, a central member of the ruling CPN-UML party, was arrested by the police on charges related to a check bounce. According to Navraj Adhikari, Superintendent of Police (SP) and spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, Malla was apprehended following a complaint regarding an offense involving a bounced check.
Malla, who is facing accusations of issuing a check for Rs 2.5 million that bounced, was arrested by the Police Range in Bhaktapur and taken to the Police Circle in Maharajgunj for further investigation.
The complaint was filed by Pushpa Raj Paharai, a member of UML, after the check issued by Malla failed to clear. In such cases, settlement can be reached between the involved parties, and the police are assisting with facilitating discussions to resolve the matter amicably.
