The Chandra Layout police arrested a couple, Aishwarya Gowda and her husband Harish K.N., on charges of defrauding a jewellery shop owner out of Rs8.4 crore worth of gold. The couple allegedly posed as relatives of former MP D.K. Suresh to carry out the scam.
The incident came to light after a complaint was filed by Vanitha S. Aithal, the owner of Vaarahi World of Gold, based in the city. The couple was arrested on Saturday and presented before a magistrate, who remanded them to judicial custody. In addition to the couple, Kannada film actor Dharmendra B. has been issued a notice by the police and will be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
