Contractor Dakota Smith Arrested for $5,000 Larceny in Liverpool

A Liverpool contractor, Dakota A. Smith, 29, was arrested by New York State Police for grand larceny in the third degree after allegedly taking more than $5,000 for a job and failing to start the work. Smith was arrested on November 5, 2024, following a complaint received by the NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

The victim, a resident of Onondaga County, reported that Smith took a deposit of over $5,000 in August 2024 but never began the work or returned the money. Smith was arraigned in Onondaga County CAP court and is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail.
