Coimbatore Police Bust Drug Racket, Arrest Seven, Including EOW Officer’s Son

Coimbatore city police cracked down on a major drug peddling racket on Thursday, arresting seven individuals, including the son of a woman sub-inspector from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Coimbatore. The police seized a significant quantity of illegal drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA, ganja, and kush (a party drug), as well as three cars and 12 mobile phones.

The arrested individuals were identified as K Manikandan (39) from Sowripalayam Pirivu, S Vinayagam (34) from Valluvar Street in Ramanathapuram, V Krishnakanth (34) from Pappanaickenpalayam, M Mahavishnu (28) from Vadavalli, D Adarsh (24) from Sungam Bypass Road, A Rithesh Lamba (41) from Netaji Nagar in Nanjundapuram, and B Rohan Shetty (30) from Trichy Road, Coimbatore.

According to the police, Manikandan, a BCom graduate, operated a call taxi service. Vinayagam, who completed class VIII, worked as a driver for Rapido. Krishnakanth, a BSc (Computer Science) graduate, was employed in the IT sector. Mahavishnu, the son of Vijayalakshmi, a sub-inspector in the Coimbatore EOW, was an BE graduate who worked as a moneylender and cricketer.
