Clifford Hayes Jailed for Sexually Assaulting Women on Trains

A man described by police as a “danger to women” has been sentenced to six years in prison after sexually assaulting two women on trains within hours of each other.

Clifford Hayes, 64, denied the charges but was found guilty by a jury following a crown court trial. British Transport Police praised the bravery of his victims for coming forward, ensuring he was brought to justice.

The attacks took place on October 7 last year. Hayes first targeted a 27-year-old woman on the 8:44 AM East Midlands train from Nottingham to Liverpool, sitting beside her before sexually assaulting her. Later that day, he attacked another woman in a similar manner.

British Transport Police continue to urge victims of sexual offences to report incidents, ensuring offenders like Hayes are held accountable.
