Christopher Nix Arrested After Violent Altercation with Etowah County Deputies

A man in Etowah County, Alabama, was arrested after a physical altercation with law enforcement, which required more than just a taser to bring him into custody.

On January 20, at around 11:30 p.m., deputies with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a male causing a disturbance at a residence on Haynes Road. Upon arrival, deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation, but 50-year-old Christopher Nix reportedly became hostile and uncooperative when asked to comply.

As deputies tried to arrest Nix, he resisted and threatened to harm them if they attempted to handcuff him. Despite multiple attempts, deputies deployed tasers, but Nix continued to resist. After a brief struggle, he was successfully detained.

Both Nix and the deputies involved in the altercation were evaluated by EMS at the scene before being transported to Gadsden Regional Medical for further assessment. Nix was taken to the Etowah County Detention Center, where he was charged with two counts of second-degree assault against law enforcement, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstructing governmental operations. His bond was set at $7,000.
