Christopher Newton Arrested for Drug Possession After Texting

HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. – A simple text message led to the arrest of a Holmes County man on drug charges.

Authorities say Christopher Newton, 50, was arrested after accidentally informing someone via text message that he had left a baggie of cocaine on a nightstand.

How It Happened
Deputies were responding to a trespassing call when the homeowner received a text from Newton stating he had “left a baggie on the nightstand.”

Upon searching the room where Newton had been staying, deputies discovered a small baggie that tested positive for cocaine.

Charges
Newton was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
